Het uitdijende digitale universum: van Giga- naar Yobibyte email this article save this article to My Clippings

It's brilliant. I urge you to watch and listen. Click on the image, above to watch the trailer.

A different view of restaurant kitchens email this article save this article to My Clippings
There are many books by or about famous chefs, but Dishwasher: One Man’s Quest to Wash Dishes in all 50 States by Pete Jordan looks at restaurant work from a totally different perspective, from behind the dish washing machine. And the inside view of restaurants and the wages and treatment of some of the workers, made me look at restaurants and their kitchens in a new way.  Who knew there was such a thing as the “bus tub buffet” and that workers in the kitchen might be eating whatever is left on a customer’s plate?  And some of the kitchens he describes are pretty appalling. Jordan describes hi...

So you checked out Youtube and watched some videos but you wondered how hard it would be to put up your own. Well first let’s talk about why. Now that more and more gadgets can record video you may want to share it with friends and family. The problem is sometimes I receive video through email but I may have trouble opening them without special software. However if I go to Youtube, no matter the type of file, I can watch it without even downloading anything. This means if I take some video of a family reunion and want to share it easily I can. Ok, now that the why has been answered how does one post a video. It reall...

Finn's Going by Tom Kelly email this article save this article to My Clippings
There were things that I really liked about this book, but I found the writing style distracting. The characters are interesting: the main character is Danny, who has an identical twin Finn, their little sister Angela is deaf, and the parents are not your typical parents. You know from the beginning that something terrible has happened to Finn, and that Danny feels responsible, but you don't get the full story until the very end of the book. There are some funny scenes, like when Angela, after getting knocked over by a big kid on the playground, makes use of some of the rude words Finn and Danny have taught her to sign...
