Financial Action Task Force Report on Canada
According to The Law Society (of England and Wales), the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has found Canada's anti-money laundering and terrorist financing standards to be 'insufficient to meet FATF recommendations'. Law Day Open Houses in Communities across B.C.
In celebration of Law Week 2008, a number of Law Day open houses will be held in communities across B.C. Visitors are invited to view mock trials, attend free law classes and citizenship ceremonies. The Canadian Bar Association B.C. Branch will also hold its province-wide "Dial-a-Lawyer" program on April 19th from 10 am to 2 pm. This program offers members of the public an opportunity to call to discuss a legal problem with a lawyer for up to 15 minutes.

Newseum To Open in D.C.
I don't know if it's the caffeine coursing through my veins, the sheer giddiness of having a comp day, or the absolute pleasure of getting to watch Washington Journal feature the Newseum on today's broadcast...but I am having a totes awesome day so far! :)

Toddlers can no longer marry in Arkansas, or the importance of proof reading
Yahoo reports that because of an extraneous "not" that no one noticed when the Arkansas legislative session ended last year, the state accidentally removed the minimum age requirement for marriage, which meant that any children under the age of 18 could marry with parental permission. The state had intended to adjust the marriage age requirement and make it 18 for all, but last week they took advantage of a special session to simply return the requirement to what it was before the mistake (17 for boys and 16 for girls).
